Hello Gentlemen,

I have been reading through the threads and trying to help myself for the last couple of days, I built a machine for video playback for my church and I put a Audiophile 2496 sound card into it.

I installed Ubuntu Studio and I LOVE IT! I really do not want to reinstall XP, but I will have to if this sound card wont work,

Ubuntu recognizes it so I am sure it is something small I have not done, PLEASE HELP ME!

I ran that alsa-info-script
here is the link:

please I hope someone can tell me what to do
thank you!

Tom

Hi, your problem is down to a long standing bug with pulse audio, but it should be a quick fix. Follow post #2 in this thread (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1484371).

I reinstalled ubuntu from scratch and followed those instructions to a T..

I cant get any sound, it sees the sound card without a problem, but If I try to play a sound file nothing comes out, also there is no speaker icon in the top toolbar

please help... im one step away from installing evil...

Donwload Kubuntu which uses Phonon and not Pulse, run it live and see if sound works, if it does, stick to it. I use KDE Kubuntu for the very same reason. The Yamaha card I have would crackle and pop with Pulse, on KDE its pristine.
