I have done some searching on the forum and have not found a solution to my problem...

Using WinXP, I am currently set up with an external video HDD recorder that will allow me to send video via 1394 to the computer so that I can stream. The system recognizes this recorder as an AVC compliant device and shows up as a camera in Stickam and Ustream.

I am currently trying to get this to work with Ubuntu. I have tried installing modules but have still had no luck. The mods I installed were

raw1394
video1394
ohci1394
dv1394

Thanks for the help that anyone can give me.
