View Full Version : [ubuntu] XBMC - Anybody have "blackouts" where you can't do anything?

Sometimes when opening XBMC, it just bombs out with a black screen. No error. It's just black and I can see the cursor and move it around.

If I drop to shell (CTRL ALT F1) and try to kill XBMC, it says no process found. If I go back to the GUI w/ CTRL ALT F7, it's still black. I have no choice but to force off the computer and restart.

What gives?

Unless it's a kernel bug of some kind (which has happened), it's often due to having a less than optimal graphics driver for your setup. I've had the black screen, including zero response to the keyboard so no chance to get to a console either, on various machines with various versions, including karmic. Haven't bumped into it so far with Lucid though.
