OK. Newbie here. I have googled and read and tried numerous suggestions on how to get wireless to work in ubuntu. I have had limited success in that I have only succeeded in getting ndiswrapper to work so my system can connect wirelessly to the internet. I have discovered that ndiswrapper is limited to 54 mbps throughput so it is not the greatest solution. The native driver from the Staging folder does not work for me. I do not know exactly what the difference is or how to use the rt2x00 driver. I have seen in some posts where users have achieved throughputs up to 300 mbps by using and modifying native drivers. I suspect that using native drivers is the best so I am looking for help in getting my system set up to get the maximum connect speeds. Particularly, I would like to know how to set up and use the rt2x00 driver. That seems to be the future of wireless drivers for linux.

Anyway, if you reply, remember that I am relatively new to linux and you could easily snow me. But, I learn quickly and understand most of the basic commands and navigation steps. So, thank you in advance for your help.

My system is as follows:
ubuntu 10.04 64 bit (updated)
Dell desktop box with dual core AMD 64 processors running at 2 Ghz, 3 GB ram
Belkin N150 Enhanced Wireless Router
Belkin N150 Enhanced USB Wireless Network Adapter
