how do i correct i or my daughter can access the printer
udinh hp deskjet f4100
get this error message
there is a missing printer filter for printer deskjet f4100 series

also when i try to print it asks for root password,strange

Have you installed HPLIB toolbox?

This will install all the drivers you need and provides a good tool to administer your printer.

I find it works without issue (I have an f4580).

jon tks installed it and had to do some tweaking but got my puter to recognize my printer. need it to get it fixed for my daughter starts school soon. and since neither of us could get the printer working gald you posted the fix

No problem..

Is the computer connected to your computer or your network?

Either way mark the printer as to be shared, then install the toolbox to your daughters PC and then when running the device setup part of HPLIP toolbox you will be able to find the printer on your network.

Just remember that if the printer is connected to your main PC then it would have to be turned on and connected to your network for your daughter to be able to print.
