Greetings All!

I am new to Ubuntu (but totally loving it so far). I have connectivity to others through Empathy, but setting up Evolution has not progressed so well. I don't seem to have the right send/receive settings for Yahoo or Gmail. I did a search to find the proper settings for the mail servers, but I still can't get access.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

D

you can install thunderbird from software center. Thunderbird will set your mail accounts with just a username and password.

Also if you are not into desktop clients, then you can download desktop- webmail. You can select your mail service provider and it will take directly to your mailbox in a web browser.

If you choose any of these methods, don't forget to change your preferred mail account from preferences.

I use Evolution with gmail.
Here are my server settings:
receiving: pop.gmail.com
sending: smtp.gmail.com:587

pop.mail.yahoo.co.uk SSL

and

smtp.mail.yahoo.co.uk SSL

Remember you have to log into yahoo and enable pop through the options.

Here are screenshots of my Yahoo mail setup. Remember, if you live in the US you have to pay for a Yahoo Mail Plus account to get POP access (or Google for one of the work-arounds).
