Hide desktop folder icons (not mounted drive icons)

The folders ("Downloads", "Music", etc.) that are in my Home directory also appear on my desktop, and I can't found out how to hide them / remove them from the desktop.

I don't use gnome (I don't even have home icon on my desktop), so I can't help you directly. However, the link below may be helpful for you:

install ubuntu tweak. From there you can tweak your desktop icons.

I had Tweak installed already, so that was the simplest & quickest solution.
