Are we talking about a dark skin or a dark theme? When I think of skins I think of application skins.

Are you talking about a forum theme? Gnome or KDE theme? As far as forum themes go we are pretty much set on what we have unless the main ubuntu site changes colors etc. Having more themes is more work for us because of the way vbulletin handles templates, if we change one theme we need to change them all and its alot of work.

Not to mention that making a dark forum theme would require rewriting the entire theme set of files because they are all default-white/light based... so we would be rewriting the entire thing, completely...

which also means it would be as fragile as sugar glass - we would have to update everything on that theme manually, and that's a lot of work/time - more than the current set of white based ones (which is already more than enough work.)

sorry, i meant forum skim. as there is now an april fool's skin, i just assumed it would be simple. i don't really know about such things. is there a way i can neutralize the forum colors, on my own machine? i can do it in dillo, but i haven't figured out how to do it in opera yet, or in firefox without using yet another extension.

Then you could modify the website with user stylesheets without any extensions. I already posted about it in another thread: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=863914#post863914

I've actually started tinkering with the april fool's theme to create a purple themed forum skin, using client-side modifications. I've removed most of the green, but it's still ugly as sin. It'll take me a bit to beautify it a bit.
