php5 ldap module not loading, help solving please ??

I have installed apache2 php5 and the php5 ldap add on module, i have checked in the php.ini file and it shows an extension=ldap.so how ever when i run a phpinfo(); script it does not show the ldap module as being present and available.

i have checked the ldap.so exists and it does in the correct place, any thing i can check / look for.

are there log files for php5 and its modules ??

i have this working on another computer and this is a fresh install any ideas.

i am very stumped on this at present.

ignore the above, i am being silly did not restart apache, however i did think that synaptics did that when installing a new module, but i guess as its a php5 module it does not count.
