View Full Version : [xubuntu] How to change video output from ntsc to pal?

I just put xubuntu onto this old computer I got for free. It's a Dell dimension 4550 P4 2.6GHz. I have put a gig of ram in it. I was going to use it for a computer hooked up to the TV for movie purposes.

It has a Nvidea GeForce 4 MX 420 Graphics card.

I want to plug it into my TV, it's pretty old, possibly from the late 80's. It only will work on PAL as that is the colour system we use in New Zealand and the TV is too old to have provisions for other colour systems.

Problem is the card seems to be putting NTSC. I couldn't find any adjustments on the card to change it to PAL though.

Any advice would be great.

Cheers,

Sam

you need to use nvidia-settings to change the resolution

Then depending on the application you need to change its settings to use PAL

Say for example I want the desktop to come up in pal, how do I go about that? Do I need to edit the xorg configuration?
