Now this is a bit odd but I have seen it happen before: after rebooting the clipboard icon is missing from the system tray. I am using KDE 4.* and karmic on the relevant machine.

Can someone toss me a simple way to get it back without rebooting?

Thanks

Alt + F2, type klipper and press ENTER.

Thanks Kyril
It came back after I rebooted again, but now I know a shortcut!
