i was trying to use the following to recover files see link below

now i cant get my system to load at all get power management error

in live cd best way to repair

i know that there is a way using the terminal in the live cd to check all partitions for errors and fix. what are the command and how would i do. tks a lot

note all the files are still in the partitions when i mount them with the live cd

here is a little more info when starting without the live cd i can get to the login window but then get the warning about power management. still can log in either user me or my daughter. also that option for using the xterminal, fail safe gnome terminal is missing from the login screen so i cant use

i also tried this using the partition my os is install in //dev/sda1

note it didnt work

okay finally found the exact problem i am having here is link but note the fix didnt work

also note i tried all four of the alternative fixes listed on the bottom of the link posted in my last response and none of these worked either

another problem is the partition that i have my system / on is full and cant delete any files. must have happened when i tried the restore thing

just had to reinstall the /
