That is nice, but you could just check Wine's Application Database (http://appdb.winehq.org/), which lists a lot more games than your YouTube page and gives specific instructions on how to get some of the more troublesome games working.

Well obviously thats another choice, But wineappdb has loads of applications and sometimes if your looking for good games that work, it takes ages, And if there is a problem with getting games running I do tend to write about it in the description

I still cant get it to work on my new computer. I used to get it working on my old PC.

What am I doing wrong? I am using 64bit Ubuntu Ultimate and have also tried Mint and others....What version of Wine? Winetricks or no Winetricks? PlayonLinux/Winedoors or straight wine? Anything I need to do with settings? Any updates or drivers or directX I need?

What am I doing wrong? I still have not gotten it working.

Why don't you try telling us what's not working before asking what you're doing wrong?

I takes ages to simply sort the entire list by category and rating? You do realize you can restrict the list to the "Games" category and "Platinum" rating which will give you an alphabetical list of over 1000 games (http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?bIsQueue=false&bIsRejected=false&sClass=application&sTitle=Browse+Applications&iItemsPerPage=25&iPage=1&sOrderBy=appName&bAscending=true) that all work flawlessly in Wine. Additionally, you can filter it further by only showing specific types of games like RPG or FPS, if you have particular gaming preference. Not to mention you can also search for specific titles with little to no effort.

Don't get me wrong, I think you YouTube page is admirable, but it is also incredibly redundant and severely lacking when compared to the sources that already exist. Frankly, I think the idea of having videos of games working in Wine is something that that AppDB should consider including in their game pages, to compliment the existing screenshots they already have.

I do understand that and I do realise that is your point of view, But It wont stop me uploading videos for people to see the games actually running in Linux, As I would prefer to see a bunch of videos over screenies, but I think that is a good idea for winehq to implement videos on the appdb, also i have found a couple of entries on the winehq to be false and not have been updated in a while, but them cases are rare to find

I have been over it in other threads, but I get it to download, but then it crashes when I get to the startup screen. It says that it has encountered a serious problem/error and that there may be a problem with wine or a deficiency in wine. It crashes or freezes and I never even get to the childbirth scene or the intro video.

I got it working and I am absolutely thrilled.

Is there a resource for using mods for fallout in Linux?

jakejw93

If it's the windows game then you just add the windows mods like you would do normally? which includes maybe running more .exe's or extracting .rar/.zip files into the installation directory

Call of duty 4 is now added to the list

I like the idea of a short list of fun games. the appdb is just about whether the game works not whether the games are fun or well liked.

My suggestions are some of the better indie games:
Links are to reviews which have at the end of each a direct link to a demo

Braid (http://jayisgames.com/archives/2009/05/braid.php) - Manipulate the flow of time to solve puzzles (jayisgames best of 2009)
Audiosurf (http://db.tigsource.com/games/audiosurf) - adapts your mp3 collection into a puzzle racer (IGF 2008: Excellence In Audio)
Everyday Shooter (http://db.tigsource.com/games/everyday-shooter) - album of musical abstract shoot-em-ups (IGF 2007: Design Innovation, IGF 2007: GameTap Indie Award, IGF 2007: Excellence In Audio)
Max and the Magic Marker (http://maxandthemagicmarker.com/) - platformer where everything you draw becomes a physics based object. see appdb for demo (http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=20747) (IGF 2010 D2D Vision Award)
Plants vs Zombies (http://jayisgames.com/archives/2009/05/plants_vs_zombies.php) - Defend your home from zombies with an arsenal of plants (jayisgames best of 2009)
VVVVVV (http://jayisgames.com/archives/2010/01/vvvvvv.php) - retro puzzle platformer
Torchlight (http://jayisgames.com/archives/2009/11/torchlight.php) - beautiful rogue like action RPG

Freeware indie games:
spelunky (http://jayisgames.com/archives/2009/09/spelunky.php) - rogue like platformer (jayisgames best of 2009)
Knytt Stories (http://jayisgames.com/archives/2007/08/knytt_stories.php) - Ambient pixel platformer
Chalk (http://db.tigsource.com/games/chalk) - Shoot em up via drawing lines
ben there dan that (http://jayisgames.com/archives/2008/09/ben_there_dan_that.php) - hilarious old school adventure (jayisgames best of 2008)

I just recently discovered indie games and was delighted with how many worked easily with wine.

Cool. Didnt notice the first time that you had more videos than the initial ones shown by the link at the beginning of this thread. Nice job.

Yeah i have nearly 200 videos, I thought it would be better to make a playlist of the best games instead of people looking through over 100 windows games! haha
