HDMI only outputs video to HDTV but not AUDIO :(

Quick question: how can i get ubuntu to output audio from my computer as well as video when i connect my laptop to my HDTV via HDMI?

Im currently downloading and testing some apps to see if it works, but a reply would still be appreciated!

Have you selected the HDMI audio out in Sound preferences? See the screenshot.

sorry for the later reply, didnt see you wrote something! I dont remember if i did but next time i plug my HDMI in i ll check for sure! thanks loads!

if that doesnt solve it, try to check your hdmi devices with


aplay -l
