I've always wanted to build my own computer. Now that I have a little money floating around, I think I will.
I'm looking to record with my existing pchdtv card, both in-the-clear digital HD and analog, and be able to play both back on the same machine, preferably over HDMI. I've done a terrible job picking video cards in the past, so that's my main concern. So it would be awesome if you all could just glance over my selection and make sure the things I chose are good enough. Also, if you can make sure I'm not making any stupid mistakes/missing anything, that would be great.

MB w/ integrated GeForce 8200 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130235&cm_re=amd_nvidia-_-13-130-235-_-Product)
Athlon II x2 @ 3GHz (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103681)
2GB DDR3 RAM (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820220453)
460W PSU w/ 20+4 main connector and 12V "P4" connector (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817171028)
ATX Midtower case (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811233050)
DVD+-RW (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827106289)
800GB HDD (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136517)

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

Your plan doesn't look too bad. Not sure about the tuner card (maybe have a look at http://www.linuxtv.org to see if linux supports it). Also I'm not sure if the 8200 supports VDPAU (hardware assisted video playback).

Do you want to do audio over HDMI? If yes have a look to see if it's supported.

The pchdtv (http://www.pchdtv.com/) card is made for Linux, and has been working wonderfully in MythTV so far.
Now that I know the name for VDPAU, I can actually Google it effectively. This (http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/VDPAU#Supported_Cards) seems to say the 8200 is supported, but I'm not sure about the de-interlacing part. What is the difference between each of those columns?
And I do want to do audio over HDMI (since without it, HDMI is basically just DVI with a different connector). I see a lot of [SOLVED] threads about HDMI with the 8200, so I'm going to take that to mean it works.

Just make sure that not only the tuner card works, but that Ubuntu (Myth) also supports the IR control. I made the mistake of spending some cash on a card that works just fine, but there are no drivers for the IR!! (one of those duhhhh moments!)

Have fun! .. And remember that setting up a Myth box (mine was to be a PVR) is a bit more work than just setting up a computer! In other words, a challenge.
You will have to learn another language (terminology).
