Can't boot Live Ubuntu DVD

I am unable to boot Ubuntu from a live DVD. I used the CD a few times on other computers, and I am able to boot the computer with Puppy Linux.
What should I do???
I reformatted the hard disk. I used to be able to boot with the Ubuntu live DVD. How can I boot up Ubuntu

Gumb has been erased on the hard disk, when I formated them, but I thought that the ubuntu live dvd doesn't use the hard disk.

Can you boot with a Live DVD on your computer?

Puppy Linux would most likely be running from a Live CD.

Everyone I got in the mail was a CD. I'm not sure if that's where you got it though
