Transgaming wineX is now Cedega. Anyway, what error(s) do you get. Also, just FYI, Cedega is really cheap. You pay to have access to the download area, you'd pay a starting fee of $15, that lasts for 3 months, then it's $5/month after that. You don't have to pay for keeping Cedega, just to login if I'm not mistaken.

the error says.. (i'm using WINE not winex i don't have the money to pay for it no matter how cheap at the moment)
the error says....
Program: C:/Program Files/Steam/Steamtemp.exe
file: |p4clients|red_beta|Projects|common|misc|win32regi stry.cpp
line 447
bCloseRet = 0L
(press retry to debug the application - JIT debugging must be enabled)
I click retry and same thing.
any ideas?

Well, you don't even technically have to pay for Cedega..I believe the CVS snapshots are free to download. However, without registering with Cedega you get no support, no say on what they'll support next, you don't get Point2Play, and no posting rights on their excellent support forums, so I recommend the $5 registration.

Steam is broken on WineHQ Wine.
It does, however, work fine in Crossover Office at http://www.codeweavers.com/ There's a free trial version you can download that will work for a month, which should hold you over to the next Wine release (where hopefully we'll fix the regression in Steam)
