I have been trying to figure out if Eyefinity will work in Ubuntu 10.04 for three monitors. I can test this at work where we have three monitor, one with a display port connection. I just want to know if it is worth trying, and if so what catalyst drive might work.

So I have done a lot of searching and have found a number of yes and no answers.

To start with Lanchpad has a change log saying it should work.

https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/lucid/+source/fglrx-installer/2:8.721-0ubuntu1

This guy says it work once did but does not now.

Then someone tries and fails with Catalyst 10.6. Seem like a lot of other good info here.

Then to finish it up these guys have some rumors that seem to say Catalyst 10.7 will support this.

I think I will wait for Catalyst 10.7 and then give it a try (Other rumors say it is due out soon). If anyone has a yes or no answer with some good reason behind it I would like to hear it.

Thanks

The Catalyst 10.7 driver now supports eyefinity in Linux. Have not used it much, but it seems to work good. It does seem to have a bug in that full-screening opengl window disables two of monitors, since I don't care about the uses case it is ok. For someone playing games that might be a problem.
