Speaking candidly, I have never used IRC before and was wondering if anyone can explain to me how to communicate effectively with this type of chatting.

For example, what sorts of things are discussed in our MI forum? I ask so as not to pose questions which are unsuited to said room.

We're not very strict about what is discussed, so come on in and chat.

Although if you like Apple you might get beaten on a bit.

Or helmets and seatbelts, if certain people are about.

Oh, make sure you praise Tool, Rush, and Python.

But feel free to bash Justin Beiber and Java.

I don't think anyone has been kicked out for being off topic.

We have a topic?
Oh, and you should worship Perl. Seriously. :D

That was definitely one of the programming languages I'm learning in the next few months. Python, as well; it's going to be a busy few months in terms of copious free time.

Bah, Perl is dying. The crusty old open source coots cling to it like a Microsoftie clings to Visual Basic. Python is the future.
