I recently upgraded my old Imac (not clear if it is a blueberry or indigo) 350 Mhz. to 768 Meg of RAM and Ubuntu 10.04. Quite franly I AM IMPRESSED!

I have been using Linux Mint 8 For a few months on my main PC now , and had become spoiled by the the MintMenu as well as some other handy mint options.

I looked around and found this page
http://www.linuxmint.com/repository/
I see there that the Mint Menu is x86 . Later however I found this
http://www.webupd8.org/2010/05/install-linux-mint-main-menu-mintmenu.html
This is a newer version and a DEB_ALL file. So I tried it and I now have a much more minty-fresh system . On my system this menu uses about 13.4 Meg.

So now I was curious how one might determine which of the current mint goodies are or might be compatible with PPC, and how we might include the repos that are valid for PPC only.

I honestly believe the imac with ubuntu 10 and the mint menu is more stable than my main Mint 8 system. Still no flash though-BOO!

My version of Linix Mint version is LXDE based, so before I hear all your frustrations, it does not have the GNOME Mint menu.

I ran Mint PPC that on this same machine, just before putting this version of Ubuntu on it. I feel it is more usable now however. I had some issues with that mint PPC version linked to here. I also do not believe it to have the level of software support that ubuntu has.

I am now building a truly Ubuntu Mint PPC on my iMac g3 and I like how it is going.

I could actually use this iMac now for most everything I do on the web. I tried that long ago with older versions of Ubuntu (and less memory) and I was never satisfied.

I now have lost my sound however so I gotta go post a thread about that!
