Hi,

I've been using ubuntu for a while in a HP laptop, but it's motherboard died :-(

So I decided to install on an old PC of mine ubuntu 10.04 desktop 32-bits; after the installation all went smoothly, but all of a sudden it shows me the ubuntu initiating logo corrupted, then it sends me to the blach screen and says some things as "cheching battery [ok]" and then a loop of white lines.

After rebooting, it happen all the time, it can take 2 hours or just 5 seconds but the white lines loop always appear, and I haven't find the factor that initiates this behavior.

I've been looking all over the web for the answer but I haven't find much info. I find this video that shows the white lines:

I need to get back to work so if someone could help me with this I'll really appreciate it.

This odd behavior is almost certainly a graphics issue.

In order to try and help you, we need to know what type of graphics card you have.
