Have a look at cedega and check out their online database and it could tell you.

Hard to say, reading that entry it says it is not officially supported by the company, however, a number of people says it is playable to a degree of 4 out of 5 - whatever that means to them.
In other words, it seems to have worked pretty ok for some people, but there will be no guarantees.

Call of Duty works almost perfectly for me using the Linux Installer from here. (http://www.liflg.org/?catid=7&gameid=1)
Try it out http://www.ubuntuforums.org/images/smilies/icon_razz.gif

I got running through cedega with some glitchs. When I tried using the native installer, sound wouldn't work, or the game wouldn't start. However, I will try downloading this and installing again. Just have to find my CD1.

Although not in ubuntu, I too have played CoD under linux with no problems. I used the loki installed from above.
I personally have never had luck running cedega myself although I'm about to try again so I can play HalfLife2!

I can play my COD2 DVD with latest Wine version 0.9.49 with no problem. 0.9.49 has solved the copy cd protection.
Used the game installer. I have a GeForce 7600GS video card.

Yes, you can run CoD in Ubuntu using WINE. Works very well. If you are a big gamer I would recommend dual booting as I do. Windows for games and Ubuntu for everything else.

I tried playing CoD2 and it did work except that the frame rate took a big hit. XP is better for games. BTW I have a 7600GT card.

XP is better for games?
I think what you mean is that XP is generally better for games that are programmed for XP.
