So i just ran some updates and restarted my computer. When I turned it on the buttons in the top right of any application are gone. I now have to go "file>exit" or "Ctrl&Q"... How do i get them back?

You might try a different theme , sometimes that helps..

Mr Nix you didn't say which version of Ubuntu you are using. If it is Lucid Lynx (10.04), the close, minimize, and maximize buttons are on the left top of the panel.

hit alt+f2 and type gconf-editor
go to applications-->metacity--> and check the layout of the buttons make sure it looks like this menu:maximize, minimize, close (for right) or close, minimize, maximize:menu (for left)

I recommend Ubuntu Tweak, it makes it much easier to switch the layout of the buttons. You can also add your own custom layout to them. You can do quite a bit with it.

Hey thanks guys. I just restarted again and it came back normal. But now when I boot up my computer my icons stay on the left side. I am using lucid lynx (10.04), and i use emerald to get them on the right.
