Rather stupidly, I right-clicked on my top menu bar and clicked 'remove panel' In my defence, I thought it would just remove a small part of the bar, but no, it's completely gone.
How do I get it back, please?
There is nothing at the top of the screen, just desktop right up to the top. Nothing auto-hidden, or to click on.
thanks!

Right click on the bottom panel and select New Panel, then right click the new panel and select Add to panel, and add the applets as required, eg notification area, menu, ect ect.

ah! Thank you very much, that's sorted the main problem out.
Would you happen to know how to get the Network Manager applet back? It doesn't seem to be in that list, and it's the reason that I started this whole experiment!
I can't choose a new network since the Network Manager is gone, and started playing around with things to try and get it back.

Right-click on the panel, select Add to panel, then select Notification Area. That's where the network manager lives.

Right clikc on top menu panel and add "Notification area" and you will get everything back. You can drag it to suitable place you want .
