Hello. For a while, I have been considering setting up an LDAP server to provide authentication for the computers in my house, of which some, but not all, run Ubuntu. I was wondering if there is a way, before buying a new server to serve this function, to use an older machine I have lying around (a heavily upgraded G4 PowerMac) as an LDAP server. The main guide on configuring such a server uses slapd, but the package search shows it as being for Intel and AMD boxes only. Is there a way to set up such a server on Ubuntu on this Mac, or would I have to try to find, and buy, and older version of OS X server?
