View Full Version : snackr (rss ticker) over live tv?

i was just wondering if there was a way i could launch snackr rss ticker from within live tv if i wanted? (http://snackr.net/)

Clearly i could just run it anyway all the time, but it would be nice if i could get a menu option in livetv to run or close snackr depending on my needs.

I think you could add a standard myth menu option to launch snackr easily. Not real sure how you would do it in a menu for live tv. How about programming a button on your remote to launch/kill it? (assuming you use one)

Sounds good, how would i go about programming the remote to launch and kill the app? That would be better than having to go into the menu anyway

I'd suggest using irexec.

Thanks, sadly my remote doesnt use lirc as it appears as a keyboard/mouse when the usb reciever is connected. This means (as far as I can see) that irexec isnt an option.

is there another way i could get snackr to run/close?

You could add it as a keyboard shortcut. Not sure what it's called in XFCE, but in gnome it's under System > Preferences > Keyboard Shortcuts
