Ubuntu Lucid boot time too slow?

Hi,
I have a installed a 64bit ubuntu lucid on my laptop. This is what I have noticed.

From the time I hit power button, it takes 30 seconds to display the ubuntu 10.04 screen and 40 seconds to the login screen. once i enter the login information and hit enter, it 21 seconds to load. I thought that the boot time on lucid is fairly fast.

Any ideas as to what to look for?

I installed it as a fresh installation and not an upgrade from jaunty.

What specs have your laptop?

On a desktop, online upgraded to 10.4 it boots very fast (although i liked more the old boot screen)
