How did it work out?
My installation gets stuck at the keyboard choice. I've not been able to progress any further.

Same with USB stick, or CD.
No other drives are connected.

It just gets stuck and I need to restart the PC, then it reboots into Karmic normally... :/

I'm dual booting with Vista.

Thanks if you have any idea!

Hi! Absolutely no problems on my aspire 5920g and no problems with other distributions, i'm sorry.

Weird... tried it again with a potential solution I read up on, changing the SATA mode to IDE, but to no avail. I used the latest version of Unetbootin to create the USB image.

I guess this one's hopeless. No clue why it doesn't work. Karmic and Jaunty worked just fine several times, and several users on here seem to have 5920Gs with Lucid...

There are a few different models of "Apire 5920G", with different hw. My Aspire 5920G-6A3G25Mi (with ATI HD3650) works fine with Lucid, except little problems with ACPI support.

Did you try to start installation with acpi=off?

Er... how do I do this..? I don't know what ACPI is... *googles*

I have the model with the T7300 CPU, 86000 GT GPU, 2GB RAM and 160GB HDD. Not sure of the model name.

Ok I got it... booting the USB key live session with acpi=off but to no avail, it still hangs right after keyboard choice.

I have no blank CDs here so I can't try with a live CD for now.
