View Full Version : 9.10 to 10.4: upgrade or clean install?

I'm running Mythbuntu 9.10 and am tempted to upgrade to 10.4.

What are your thoughts on upgrading via the update manager vs backing up the database and all the media files, doing a clean reinstall, and restoring everything?

Obviously I'd back everything up anyway, even if I decide to go down the upgrade route.

Thanks
NM

I always do a clean install as in my personal experience the upgrade has always given me trouble

i done upgrade via update manager and system slowed down. Processor was always at 100% usage, so i done clean install and system worked fine. If you ask me clean install.

Hi,

Make a good backup of your system, try the upgrade and if you have problems do a new install.

I've always done this for my ubuntu systems since 8.04 and have never needed to reinstall.
