I wrote a script that'll make backing up DVDs easy. There's some initial setup needed; I talk through the steps and provide download links to software you'll need here

What's the difference with dvdbackup -i /dev/dvd -o /folder_to_save_into/ -M? I mean, running just this command you get the AUDIO_TS & VIDEO_TS too, and there's no need for all this other things you talk about in your post, unless there's another good point.

I guess there might be some problems of encryption for video, if I'm not wrong.

I've used dvdbackup with 3 DVDs till now, and I haven't got any problem. In the other hand, I can't user DVD::RIP (based on transcode) since some updates ago... Dunno, maybe a random problem, some people can use dvdbackup and others can't... :-?
