Hello!

I use Ubuntu 10.04 and since I changed my motherboard (ASUS M2N-E to ASUS M3A32MVP Deluxe) I sometimes (better said, often) have problems with gnome panels. Some icons or buttons aren'r showed correctly, or replaced by othes, so sometimes I get two same buttons (or icons, f.e. the sound icon). See included screenshots. I've installed all updates. Please, could somebody help me with this? Thanks a lot.

I'm a relatively new user, but when I have trouble with my panels I just go into a terminal and type:

killall gnome-panel

and the panels will disappear and in a few seconds they reappear working like they are supposed to.

Thanks for posting, your idea is good as a temporary solution, but I need a better solution, because I really don't want to do this five times every time I turn my PC on. Anyway, thanks again. :)

Same situation over here (Ubuntu 10.04 32 bits, Lenovo X200).
killall also solves the problem temporarily.
Any news?

I too get this problem, but only every say 1 in 30 boots. I just use kill all and it doesn't do it again for that session. Annoying though

I noticed this issue with my 32 bit build of Ubuntu, and it never did this on my 64 bit build, so I too am scratching my head because I would like this issue fixed as well.

See this post to rest the gnome panel to default.

You may need to restart.

The only "strange" thing in my case is I have a docking station with an external LCD monitor with a different resolution than the notebook's display.
But the graphic card is still the same.
And the problem appears on either display.
Any news?
