I was ropey at Linux when I was young and I'm wobbly now I'm moving back from Windows - all advice directed at me as if I'm a plank of wood is preferable...
I'm trying to set up my Philips USB IR control in Ubuntu 10.04 (after failing on 9.10) and I crash the installation "E: lirc: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 127" - that's in Synaptic Package Manager. Console is just as bad, same number error. KPackageKit also falls over (it tries to install all its dependencies and still dies).
Anyone any idea? It's the white rectangle one from http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/MCE_Remote
