Can I install a scanner using a windows driver?
I own a Visioneer Onetouch 5600usb.
I have is working in windows xp, but am trying to transition away from using xp, as I have a slow pc and ubuntu 10.04 boots up and shuts down much quicker. Not to mention I have my TV card working using CSMonkey TV Remote. What's left from my peripherals is my scanner. I don't see Visioneer as being listed on the sane web page.

I've read couple sites to no help as of yet:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ScanningHowTo
http://www.sane-project.org/sane-backends.html
http://tldp.org/HOWTO/Scanner-HOWTO/index.html
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/HardwareSupportComponentsScanners

running lsusb I get:
Bus 001 Device 008: ID 0461:0367 Primax Electronics, Ltd VistaScan Astra 3600(ENG)

and running lspci:
Bus 001 Device 008: ID 0461:0367 Primax Electronics, Ltd VistaScan Astra 3600(ENG)

When I run simple scan it says: "No scanners detected"

I like running ubuntu linux cause it's snappier than windows and I don't get viruses and it's so configurable and personal. I would pay more money for a copy of linux than windows for those reasons, especially if I could get all my hardware working.

Thanks, ledzepjes
