Hello, I am a total beginner on Ubuntu, and am having a problem with my 3d acceleration.
Namely it does not seem there is any 3d acceleration enabled on my laptop (compaq nx7400).
I have tried to compile warzone2100 from the guide at http://developer.wz2100.net/wiki/LinuxCompileGuide. The result has been that:
Warzone does not work
Both Cairo and Docky don't work as they should (and I invariably get the error message 'Docky requires compositing to work properly etc etc')
Compiz don't work either.
I guess it must be a matter of all the OpenGl packages I've been messing around with while tryin to install the game.
Could anyone suggest me an easy way to fix this?

If I run lspci -nn | grep VGA in the terminal this is the output:
VGA compatible controller [0300]: Intel Corporation Mobile 945GM/GMS, 943/940GML Express Integrated Graphics Controller [8086:27a2] (rev 03)

If I run compiz --replace ccp & emerald --replace &
the output is:
[1] 9935
[2] 9936
giambattista@Eich:~$ Xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display ":0.0".
compiz (core) - Fatal: Root visual is not a GL visual
compiz (core) - Error: Failed to manage screen: 0
compiz (core) - Fatal: No manageable screens found on display :0.0

The ouput if I run dpkg -l | grep -i glx :

ii libgl1-mesa-dev 7.7.1-1ubuntu3 A free implementation of the OpenGL API -- GLX development
ii libgl1-mesa-glx 7.7.1-1ubuntu3 A free implementation of the OpenGL API -- GLX runtime
ii libglitz-glx1 0.5.6-1build1 Glitz OpenGL library GLX backend

And my /var/log/Xorg.0.log file :
