The Ubuntu is up and working great. It has been a of fun to play with.

One problem I am having is with audio.

The audio is very quiet. The Mac chime is booming loud when the machine starts up- so I know the speaker is solid- but once the OS is loaded, all of the Ubuntu noises, Rhythmbox, and any other audio is whisper quiet.

I have looked at a few tutorials but so far most of the audio advice I've found has been for laptops or Intel-based Macs. I've installed some ALSA and JACK applications but no luck with those so far. ALSA mixer was specifically recommended as a potential fix for the quiet audio, but it crashes during launch.

Any advice would be appreciated. I'll post back here with any solutions I may hit on.
