A bug in Gutsy Gibbon allowed pavilion dv6500t special edition (Intel 965 chipset, Nvidia 8400M GS) backlight to turn off when setting the display brightness in Power Management to lower than 3% and if the brightness was set to 3% the backlight would not turn off but absurdly low luminescence.

Text and images would still be visible with very little backlight even with little or no light in room. This would works even in live cd mode when and after installing nvidia driver.it is probably related to improper or missing acpi module.Laptop mode is default false.
It feels good to eyes.

Though I have just started with Ubuntu 7.10 i386 DVD. I'm striving hard to familiarize myself and work with the same.

It would be much appreciated if screen shots or video is provided for me to follow easily.

Best Regards,

I have managed to install Ubuntu 10.04 in virtual box but unable to use shared folders with gutsy host.

It is regrettable that no guidance was given.:sad:Now I can no longer take forward this adventure due to persistence of backlight issue.
