Hi,

does anyone have recommendation for a 24-bit digital output soundcard, i.e. a soundcard that is excellently supported in Ubuntu and has 24-bit digital output by coaxial or toslink?

Cheers:)

The m-audio 24/96 audiophile is a good one, but it does not play nice with pulse. If you are still on karmic then pulse can be removed quite easily.

Thanx:)

But is the the m-audio 2496 still available, I thought it was no longer in production?

I only need the digital output for an external DAC, so the quality of the soundcard is not that important as long as it plays nice with Ubuntu and outputs 24-bit digital, ie I don't need to spend that much money.

Cheers

After researching the m-audio 2496 a bit, it seems this is not a good option as there is a bug related to the digital output, see bug #178442, which is exactly the functionality I'm after. It seems the workaround for this bug kills digital output.

Anyone else got a well-supported digital output soundcard out there?
