Now I've had a look around and the only thing I can find is an old thread about Hellanzb and I can't access the files needed from their site.

Now when I used Windows I ran Grabit. I would like to know the best Linux alternative? If anybody can suggest something that will open the .nzb file, download it and repair / extract the file should I need too.

http://www.lottanzb.org/ or PAN
both can be found in ubuntu repos.

Thanks for this quick reply. I'm new to Linux so I'm heading for a steep learning curve I'm guessing.

yeah hellanzb is hella old. development has stalled on it. thats why lottanzb is switching their backend to SABnzbd+

you dont need lottanzb at all though, you can simply use SABnzbd+ yourself.

http://wiki.sabnzbd.org/install-ubuntu-repo

after you've got sabnzbd+ running you should also install nzbdStatus (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/7617/) plugin for firefox. let me know if you have any other questions. good luck!
