I am so excited yet nervous because it is a whole different os. anyways i am building a desktop. today i found out that ubuntu isnt compatible with all hardware so i was wondering if these parts work. http://i47.tinypic.com/dy3sio.png
next what are some good virus protection programs? also are there any necessities to install to make ubuntu easier? oh, almost forgot... where can i learn the basic codes to get around linux? thanx ahead.

That should all work fine.
Linux doesn't really need anti-virus.
If you like flash, java, mp3 etc.
sudo aptitude install ubuntu-restricted-extras

For hardware, I would suggest looking here first:
As far as anti-virus goes, many Linux users, myself among them, consider it unnecessary, as the system is designed to greatly restrict default user rights so that any possible damage and/or infestation of a virus is quite difficult to achieve.
to be helpful in learning the basics about Linux, choosing which flavor of Ubuntu, to use, etc. Also, (I say this with complete sincerity) searching the man pages with
man -k keyword or apropos keyword are good ways to begin searching for commands (as well as google) and the man pages and the forums can provide you with more direct information from there.
