View Full Version : [ubuntu] Loss of FPS on Cheese video

So I just installed a webcam into my Inspiron 1525 (cool little project), and for a while everything was working great...until today. Taking pictures, skype video, no problems except with cheese video. In cheese when I try to take video I loose all my FPS and get around maybe a new frame every 30 seconds or so (it is this way even on the final saved video).

I fiddled around with gstreamers properties but to no avail. How can I return cheese to its full functionality, or is there at least another program I can use to capture video from my webcam (preferably with sound too).

Thanks.

Same problem here, which I was not aware of until I tried it out after reading your post. I have only recently got a webcam, so can't say if this is different to previous versions of cheese.

Only about 7fps. I have not really looked at any configuration of this yet so have no idea if it can be improved in any way.
