View Full Version : [ubuntu] Realtek HD Audio does not work with Ubuntu 64-bit

I'm still new to ubuntu and Linux, but have been able to iron almost everything out except my sound.

I looked over the sticky re: sound issues, but they don't seem to fit my situation

My G7 Asus laptop has some pretty cool speakers on it and the sound is really quite good when I use Winamp in the previous OS, but Winamp (and every other media player I've tried) sounds like crap while running on ubuntu.

I'm assuming it has something to do with not running the Realtek HD Audio driver within ubuntu. But lack the skills to figure out what, if anything, I can do to solve it.

Any help or guidance would be awesome.....
