Many years since i used Ubuntu now, and now im trying it again. And it all looks and works so much easier.

But i have a problem when streaming movies. On youtube when i stream 1080p movies it lags so hard that its not possible to watch. I could watch it without problems on windows however.

If i play a 1080p .mkv file here on ubuntu (streaming from my server) i have no problem to watch it what so ever, no lag just perfect picture.

So what am i doing wrong? What do i need to install to get that lag away?

The computer aint that bad either except for it to have ATI Radeon HD 3400 series. It has 4gb memory and a Athlon X2 64 CPU

And im running the 64bit version of ubuntu. If that has anything to do with it...

Thanks for the help!

EDIT:
tried both firefoc and chrome now. And i have no problem streaming 360p 480p or 720p its only when it comes to 1080p it lags. And then i remembered that my biggest screen solution on this screen is 900p (1440x900). Maybe thats the problem?

But i have another site that it called filmweb.no. So when i try to watch a trailer from this link: http://www.filmweb.no/trailere/
it lags like hell again. But here i don̈́'t have any option on resolution, so im still stuck on that one...

Did you try the new 10.1 flash plugin(release candidate)? I know I had these problems, and fixed it by removing flash-nonfree from the Ubuntu Software Center and installed the new plugin manually. Here's the link:

http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/flashplayer10.html

The flash plugin from the repos never worked for me. I have to do this with every new Ubuntu installation.

Tried it now but i didnt manage to install it. When i go to adobes page and download for newest ubuntu i get:

Package 'adobe-flashplugin' is virtual.

what am i doing wrong?

Reinstalled ubuntu but this time as 32bit, and now i manage to install the flash from adobes homepage...

But still i have problems watching movie trailers from: http://www.filmweb.no/trailere/

Youtube still works up to 720p but not as 1080p

I concur with TS. I'm having HD 3450. Latest Flash (10.2) installed, but Youtube on 1080p is unwatchable due to heavy lag. Any ideas?
