Hi Guys!

Could you please recommend a laptop, available locally, that is 100% compatible with Ubuntu.

A brand that is fully supported in Ubuntu 10.04. Meaning all hardware (e.g. Fn+ keys, touchpad, webcam, suspend, hibernate, earphone, etc.) are all working and functioning in Ubuntu, like it should be, when M$ Windoze with all the drivers installed.

The base system should be Intel Core2 Duo with dedicated graphics, wi-fi, bluetooth, and a 14.1" LCD should be enough. Memory and HDD can easily be upgraded, so it is not an issue.

I would really like to hear all your inputs. Thanks!!!

Its good that there is a brand dedicated for ubuntu linux. However, I dont think that brand is locally and readily available here in the Philippines.

I have a Dell 1750 that I have installed Ubuntu on and everything is working fine. The only issue I have is with some of the keystrokes like volume up/down takes over a shortcut (can't remember which). It isn't that annoying though as I haven't bothered to change it and I am sure it would be very easy. This laptop has an integrated webcam and graphics (not the ati one) and an intel dual core processor. (can't remember which at work at the moment) It all works nicely and I would suspect that most of the Dells would be the same.

You might want to try this thread (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1495312), one of the users might be able to help you.

As with Windows, you might need to install a few drivers with £inux.

i think DELL Laptop can be a good choice too consider .....

De££ was selling Ubuntu £inux laptops for a while, but I am unsure if they are still doing that, I think it is strickly Micro$oft Window$ now.

I am using Ubuntu Netbook Edition 10.04 on my Indigo RS130 13" netbook from Compex. It is a black MacBook Air clone. It has typical netbook specs but with a large 13" screen. N280, GMA 950, 160gb hdd, 1gb ram. Realtek lan and wifi card.

I had replaced my wifi card with one with a Broadcom chipset. It now triple boots into Win 7, OS X SL, Ubuntu Netbook Edition.

Everything works but mic quality is lousy because of a loud fan. But I love it anyway. Only 2.8lbs. Runs 1:40hrs on wifi.

Asus EEes' works great in ubuntu especially the 900s' and 1000s'. And it has great battery life compared to other netbooks running on ubuntu. it goes on up to 6-7 hours without wifi and bluetooth, and 4-5 hours with wifi and bluetooth running.

I would say my Acer Aspire 4810T is almost 100% compatible. Earlier i had problems with the brightness function keys but eventually managed to google a work-around. Others all are working fine.

My Lenovo S10 netbook is even better. If not with the additional proprietary broadcom (wifi) drivers i had to install, would have been perfect out of the box.
