I have heard that I can get Guild Wars running on WINE. And the installation proceeds according to plan and everything, but when I try to run it, it freezes on me. Any ideas why?

AFAIK, Guild Wars does not run well (read: at all) with wine. It does work with Cedega, though.

*reads post carefully*

*runs away sobbing*

Ah well, I guess I'll eventually cough up for Cedega...

It's only $15 US, for 3 months [EDIT:] minimum subscription, you can easily download all the versions, with the GUI front end, & then manage different games, with different versions & settings where required.

I did not want to cough up for Cedega either, but as it turned out I had no other choice, Wine & CVS Cedega would not work for me & I spent a lot of time trying to make it work.

Cedega time demo worked straight away! I bought it & then tweaked it to work on version 4.4.3. Read this if you haven't, & you're interested in GW & Cedega:

I have been playing it a lot, & have no complaints at all, great game, runs very well on Ubuntu via Cedega 4.4.3!! :KS
