I tried to install the 10.04 version from the disk ubuntu sent me and i tried it 8 times and keep getting the same error. Ive been able to use 9.10. My error is "error: out of disk." and right under it is "grub rescue>". Booting from cd works fine but no commands at all work in terminal when using cd, and no commands work where error appears. How do i fix this?

sounds like you didn't give ubuntu enough disk space to install

do you have multiple drives? Then are you booting from the correction one. Often reinstalling grub as it was not set up correctly.
