hey, Having a weird issue with grub identifying windows xp. When I select the windows xp partition, it will usually run half way threw, and then suddenly reboot. So I will select it again, it will repeat itself, select it again and it will suddenly work.
The attempts seem to be completely random, sometimes it will work on my first try, others I will have have to try three or four times.
What the heck is going on?

If you're getting to the Windows XP loading screen, the problem is in windows. Try booting to a Windows XP disk, getting into recovery mode and typing
FIXBOOT

what if I don't have the disc?
Contact Microsoft or (if it's an OEM copy) your OEM. It should only cost about $20 USD if you are clear that you only want a disc and not another serial number. Be warned: I had a terrible experience with Dell trying to get another XP disc.
