Hi all, just installed Ubuntu 10.04 and loving it. I'm coming from Kubuntu 9.10 and am looking to find some replacements for some of the programs I used on KDE. I'm looking for an RSS aggregator. I really like Akregator but I'm looking for something without dependence on the KDE libs. I'm not all that fussy about features, as long as it can download, store and read blogs it should do me. I'm also looking for a stand-alone program, ie not a browser-based or web-based feed.

So what programs do you guys use on GNOME? Thanks for the help!

Although I don't use it (I use Google Reader), I've heard good things about liferea, also Mozilla Thunderbird will do RSS for you.

RSSOwl (http://www.rssowl.org/) and Liferea (http://liferea.sourceforge.net/).

Thanks guys. Downloaded Liferea and actually found it quite slow, so I decided to try RSSOwl instead and I've no problems so far. This surprised me as Liferea seems to be the more lightweight of the two but anyway. RSSOwl seems to be doing the trick, thanks again.
