Anyone had any experience in installing 10.04 on a Dell Inspiron 8000? Yeah - its old - but surely that is what xubuntu is for :)

Its got some nVidia Riva graphics card and it just fails for me each time :(

Can anyone hold up a beacon of hope for me?

Thanks

I'm also working on one of these. On mine the video comes up garbled and unreadable but if you use the Fn + F7 key it will straighten it out for you so you can finish the install.

Now my problem is that every time I boot up I have to use the Fn + F7 keys to get the display readable. That plus screen resolution won't go beyond 800x600, which sux. I'm sure this is a driver issue but updates don't fix it?

So, anyone have a fix for this one yet?

Well, at least you're out there using it - this gives me renewed hope.
Was it easy to install?
Were there any graphics card or other gotchas you can warn me about?

Cheers

Don't know if there's a difference but what I loaded was 10.04 Lucid from an ISO image that I downloaded off the internet. Other than the glitch with the video both 9.10 and 10.04 installed OK.
