Hello,
Does the #ubuntu chatroom / irc prevent people using mibbit (http://mibbit.com) from chatting?

I would prefer using an online chat/irc program to do irc than using non-browser method.

I think that legally they would have a problem discriminating against it, so it only makes sense that it would work.

Edit: I tried and it does work. :D

When you're on http://mibbit.com/chat/, (http://mibbit.com/chat/)
what do you do next?

i tried using webchat.freenode.net. I typed in "#ubuntu" in the channel box, but wasn't sent directly to #ubuntu room. I was sent to #ubuntu-proxy-users and got this message:

[20:12] == helloworldlings [~d8121877@gateway/web/freenode/x-fxejcyteuhfkxqim] has joined #ubuntu-proxy-users
[20:12] -ChanServ- [#ubuntu-proxy-users] /!\ ATTENTION /!\ This is NOT #ubuntu. | You have been sent to this channel because you are using a proxy service such as Tor or Cgi:IRC. There are better ways to be anonymous. | CGI:IRC users, try connecting to freenode via port 8000, 8001 or 8002. This _may_ bypass your firewalls | Please type !proxy for more information.
[20:12] <+FloodBot1> helloworldlings: Try again joining #ubuntu, you've been granted temporary access from your web gateway. Don't leave this channel until you've joined! (Also, on some browsers it may take up to a minute or more to sync to #ubuntu, so please be patient for a while before killing the browser and trying again)

I had to type "/join #ubuntu" to go to the desired room.

I wish they wouldn't give webchat.freenode users this extra step.

too bad that webchat.freenode.net doesn't alert me when someone types a message with my username in it.

UPDATE: Oh, I was wrong. It does alert me by having the writer's name in red, instead of the regular black.

The one extra step shouldn't bother you tho.

Have fun on IRC !
