Mukhang format then copy lang yung configurations ng PCOS yung ginawa nila. Tens of thousands of CFs are a hell lot of work, kung mano-mano gagawin nila dito!

But I'm glad they are using open source, Ubuntu, in particular. Its like telling the whole Philippines that "This is a better OS that you should all use!"

Let's admit it. Isn't it a bit weird? Baka nga kinulang sa funds due to overcampaigning their effing faces sa public.

Sorry po ah, medyo me pagka conspiracy theorist ako ng konti....:lolflag:

I'm glad din that they use Ubuntu for the elections. Wala ako sana balak bumoto pero I'll check what is there...

:lolflag:

di naman, after all the PCOS machines are embeded uclinux. siguro magugulat tayo kung COMELEC mismo yung gagamit ng Ubuntu, pero smartmatic naman ang gumagamit nito at nag rereformat ng mga CF cards.

Its not a government agency using Ubuntu in the said pic but Smartmatic. However, we can't generalize people in government too.

Some agencies do experiment with Linux and even use it for servers. However, the problem lies with skill sets, not technology.

Some agencies are graft-filled with regards to technology contracts but its because private firms are willing to feed the crocs just to get a contract. So its just a vicious cycle where the private sector is also to blame. Let's not be so righteous when it comes to weaknesses of the public sector. A simple 'kotong' to an MMDA personnel is no different to a Million peso kickback from a technology project.

but of course, for some and for servers, then it wouldn't come as surprise. ;)

but desktop? comm'n, we wouldn't have hailed the simple picture of smartmatic with an Ubuntu desktop in FB, twitter, this forum,
saying "OOOh look! they are using an ubuntu desktop for formating cf cards!

What i meant with what might come as surprise if COMELEC would be using ubuntu, is because all TV reports and newspapers i've seen so far with their Desktop captured on it, is they are using either Mac or Windows.

In the grand scheme of things, the choice of a desktop is minimal compared to what is at stake in this election. Only the alpha geeks will appreciate the pic ;-)

yes, the outcome of the election is the most important. but of course it give pride to us ubuntu users that ubuntu desktops and linux is part of that successful outcome that changed history in the philippines.

By not tolerating the use of pirated software and promoting an open source to the community lalonglalo na sa academic institution ay isa sa mga paraan o gawain upang maka contribute sa tinatawag natin pagbabago and I believe na kung tayo ay naniniwala na kaya natin bagohin mismo ang sarili natin then we can achieve this change in the near future. I am always hoping for a better Philippines...:)

Lumalim usapan ah... :D

I second the opinion.

Most, if not all, Bids and Awards Committees in the Local and National Government are like that.

Bottom Line: Money Talks. The bidder with the highest offer is considered the lowest bidder, if you know what I mean.

Slowly but surely, magbabago din yan. The Philippines will be a better place to live in!!!
